TMDS261B: HDMI Switch Selection

Part Number: TMDS261B
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DS16EV5110A, TMDS181

I have a customer who is looking to incorporate an HDMI switch into their tele-medicine product. Currently, their product drives an external HDMI monitor through a cable. Cable lengths can range from 1 foot up to 25 feet. The new requirement is to be able to accept an external HDMI input from another source and switch between either his internal HDMI source or the external HDMI source for display on the external monitor. I have been reading through the various switches on your web site and many of then are not recommended for source side switching which I guess is what this application requires since the display will be located at the end of cable. I was hoping someone could expand on why these devices are not recommended for this type of an application and whether they could be used for this application. Or if possible, recommend a device that could be used. Thank you kindly, Jim
