TUSB1210: VBUS Disconnect

Hi Team,

My customer is trying to understand what changes are needed in order to use the TUSB1210 without VBUS connected. They have left it floating/tied it to ground, however the device does not appear to functional without VBUS present (works fine if VBUS is supplied).

Are there specific registers/resistors that need to be set in order to use the TUSB1210 without VBUS coming in from the receptacle?

for device, Vbus detect is needed . it'd part of USB spec.

Hi Brian,

On the datasheet we state that the "TUSB1210 does not strickly require Vbus to function." Under which use cases does the TUSB1210 not need VBUS?

My customer cannot use the VBUS directly from the receptacle as they are operating it our of spec (12V). I see that VBUS has an abs max of 20V, but I don't see a recommended max. Can the TUSB1210 handle a 12V Vbus input?

Diego:

when used as host, it don't need Vbus detect. but in device mode, it do need.

Vbus of TUSB1210 can not handle 12v, but you can add voltage divider.
