Hi Team,

What is the best way to determine what camera resolution will comply with the 954 deserializer if I am in the process of selecting camera sensors? I understand the cover of the datasheet mentions dual 2MP/60fps, but is there a way to use the total bandwidth of 4.16Gpbs to back calculate what cameras would be acceptable to use?

Any equations or insight you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Jared,

Please see attached for a simple calculator tool for estimation:

To calculate bandwidth you need to know the image dimensions, the data type (bits per pixel), and the frame rate, plus the blanking requirement of the imager and CSI-2 overhead. The blanking and CSI-2 overhead we usually estimate to be around 10-25% depending on the imager but to get the exact number you would need to consult the image sensor datasheet.

As long as you can confirm that the max CSI-2 per-lane speed is < 832 Mbps, then we can support it.

Thanks for the quick response! With that last statement you mentioned, should I take the "Total Data Rate needed" value in the excel spreadsheet and divide it by the number of CSI-2 lanes?
