AM26C32: Behavior at output short circuit

My customer wants to confirm of AM26C31 which doesn't have a thermal shutdown function.

Could you advice the behavior when this device gets the output short circuit, please? Is IC temperature rising?

    Yukiko,

    In your application, what's the maximum number of channel that could be shorted? Another question is what package you're interested in? In general AM26C31 has good power dissipation handling. Figure 1 on page 7 of the datasheet shows the device consumes 260mA in normal operation.

    Hi Hao,

    Thank you for your reply. Let me correct device name to AM26C "32" IPW, so package is TSSOP16.

    I'll confirm max number of channel that could be shorted to the customer and share this post.

    Yukiko,

    If the device is AM26C32 (4 channel receivers), generally there is no much thermal concern in short current since the abs max output current is 25mA. Please let me know if you have more questions.
