TPS65987D: Modification of UCSI 4CC commands in the latest base firmware F707.10.07

Part Number: TPS65987D

Hi, everyone,

Now, we're desingning new Windows PC using TPS65987DDH,
(OS: Windows 10 19H1)

and we've faced the critical problem on HLK test:
"UCSI USB Operation Role Command - Accept Swap" :  FAIL

The latest base firmware F707.10.07 says:

>Summary of Bug Fixes
:
:
>• Device does not handle 4CC Command after Get PDOs UCSI Command is executed in Unconnected state.
>• Incorrect response received for Get Connector Status Command

Are these modifications available for OS revision (Windows 10 RS5 -> 19H1),
and related with HLK test?

Best Regards,

  • Hi Maurice,

I need to ask if you are testing against release F707.10.07 or a different release? The PD base firmware does not have any restrictions with OS versions. This may be updated independently.

HLK testing depends on the interface between OS (OPM) and EC (PPM). Debugging HLK failures requires checking communication between OPM, PPM, and LPM (PD).

Here is a sequence of verification for this error message (Operation Role Command Swap Failure).

    1. check PD traces to verify if Data Role swap was attempted and if it was accepted or rejected.

    2. Verify EC to PD communication. Does the EC access 4CC UCSI commands?

    3. Verify PPM to OPM communication. Was the correct outcome reported ?

    Regards,

    Scott
