DP83TC811S-Q1: DP83T811S Pins for Compliance Test

Part Number: DP83TC811S-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DP83TC811

Hallo,

i design an 100Base-T1 Interface-Card and i didn't found any hint, about Pins should be reachable (or connected to Testpoint)  for probs, to do the compliance Test. As an example the Marvel 88Q2110 PHY the Pins HSDACP and HSDACN Pins has to be terminate with 50 Ohm and there you can Measure 11.111MHz in a Test-Mode.

  • Hi Nicolai,

Which compliance test are you trying to run? 11.11MHz disturbing signal is usually supplied from a external signal generator.

  • We want to run the compliance test for 100Base-T1 and we gone test:

    1. Transmitter Output Drop
    2. Transmitter Jitter Test in Master Mode
    3. -
    4. Transmitter Distortion
    5. PSD Mask Test

The topic compliance testing is something new for me, i asked a work college for some experience, which pins should be reachable for compliance test, in terms of this he gave me some hints how he handled it with the Marvel PHY. We made already or own Evalboard where every pin which is not used is prepared with a testpoint or some pads for pull up/down resistors, but at the moment nobody had time to test the card in compliance test because the driver is not finished yet. My Task at the moment is to layout a card with multiple channels and i don't have place to attach on every not used pin, for normal operation, a test point or any pads.

I hope this are some helpful information to support me.

  • Hi Nick,

We have a app note that you can use to perform compliance testing on DP83TC811. The App note also has scripts for putting the PHY in the right test modes.

The test setup information is usually provided by the Oscilloscope vendor from whom you will be purchasing the Compliance Testing Software.
