TUSB8020B-Q1: USB 3.0 host interface connects USB 2.0 device and USB3.0 device

Part Number: TUSB8020B-Q1

Hi,TI Engineers,

In my deign, the CPU just has one USB 3.0 controller interface ,whether I can connect a USB 2.0 device (named device A) by DM and DP pins, and at the same time connect a USB 3.0 device (named device B) by SSTXP/M,SSRXP/M pins. Whether this design is right ?

On the other hand, whether I need to add an USB 3.0 HUB (TUSB8020B-Q1) in my design, just like the following figure describes:

Thank you.

Regards.

  • Hi,

A single USB 3.0 port is not intended to support a USB 2.0 device and a USB 3.0 device simultaneously.  It is recommended that a USB 3.0 hub be implemented to support multiple devices (as shown in the second figure).  Also a USB 3.0 device should be connected over DP/DM as well as the SS lines to support backward compatibility.

    Regards,
