LMH0394: LMH0394 low frequency use

My LMH0394 input signal is sometimes only a 6MHz square wave. What will the chip do? thanks Dave

Hi Dave,

LMH0394 has not been characterized to operate at this low frequency. At this low frequency, LMH0394 does not provide any gain. Also, this is highly depended on the signal rise/fall time. Rise/fall time should be very fast - greater than 400ps. AC coupling cap should be very large to allow this low frequency signal to pass through.

Thanks Nasser. I have decided to bypass the equaliser either completely by an external path or internally using the bypass function. The large caps are still necessary, of course but can the LMH0394 act as a simple buffer in bypass mode? Cheers Dave
