Hi,

Please help to check for below connection if the panel can display as normal or might be cut due to different resolution

DS90UB949 (HDMI 480P or 720P as input )+ DS90UB948 (LVDS as output connect to 1920*720 Panel)
DS90UB949-Q1 or DS90UB947-Q1 (use internal BIST testing Pattern ) + DS90UB948 (LVDS output connect to 1920*720 Panel)
Can DS90UB949-Q1 or DS90UB947-Q1 BIST Mode output 1920*720 resolution by setting? if yes, how to set up?
Does DS90UB949-Q1 Internal EDID only support 480p & 720?

Hello Patty,

1. The output will be incorrect since the resolution input to the serializer does not match the panel

2. BIST and PATGEN are two different features. In this case you are talking about PATGEN. This can work if you configure it properly

3. Yes, please reference this app note: http://www.ti.com/lit/an/snla132d/snla132d.pdf

4. No, you can load whatever EDID you would like into 949 either via local EEPROM, external EEPROM, or via I2C. Please see 949 datasheet section 7.3.4

For the first question, is there any connecting way to have any display on the screen(even is cut) no matter the input is HDMI or LVDS? Thanks!

Patty,

If the display resolution input does not match the panel then there is no way to guarantee what will be displayed if anything.

If applying pattern generator with DS90UB949-Q1 at the input to generate 1920*720, then can DS90UB948 accept this resolution and work on the panel?
若item 1 can work,then how should i set up DS90UB949?

Hello Patty,

I think you are asking if you can use the internal pattern generator inside 949 to generate a 1920x720p60 signal for transmitting to 948. You can follow the guide in this app note to enable this feature: http://www.ti.com/lit/an/snla132d/snla132d.pdf

Hello Patty,

It is not a long app note. I would suggest reading it all the way through, however section 4.3 contains an entire example that the customer could use as a starting point if they want.

Hi Casey,

Here is feedback from customer,

1. He read the app notes(TABLE 3) and said for generator there's no option for 1920*720p60. i also didnt found this resolution, could you help to check is it possible to set up to this resolution?

2. If they are going to use external generator to output 1920*720 through HDMI Cable & input to 949 HDMI in:

a) How to set up 949 EDID?

b) Apart from EDID, what else need to be set up to let 949 pass 1920*720 to 948?

Hello Patty,

1. The customer needs to define the timings for their panel. We can not provide these numbers. Once they have the numbers then they can modify the app note example to fit their panel

2a. The EDID will come from the panel vendor. The customer should provide it

2b. There is no specific setup needed to pass a certain resolution through 949. If the source is configured properly based on the EDID for the panel, then the video will pass through

3. There is no specific configuration needed which we know about. The customer must clearly define their panel specs, LVDS format, PCLK, EDID, etc. This information does not come from us

Hi Casey,

Now customer's TX board has MCU and use HSD/FAKRA connector to connenct to RX board,

RX board will pass the control signal to LCD panel.

They are wondering based on this hardware configuration, the pin of MCU on TX board should connect to which pins on DS90UB949?

The power on sequence that LCD panel needs is as below:
