Hello
Customer application is monitor. No usb 3.0 signal just only have DP signal. PD schematics as below. Do we have FW code by customer schematics to provide for reference? Thank you.

Hi Patrick,
For a Monitor application, you can use the TPS6598x Application Customization Tool and select the TPS65987D after clicking on New Project. I would then recommend selecting and Advanced template for a DRP (Prefers Source).
This would closely match the behavior of a monitor. The customer can then adjust the remaining settings based on the specifics of their application.
Thanks,
Eric
Hello
We build up a TPS65987D project based on below customer requirement for monitor application. Could you help review has any wrong setting on OTS_0820 .pjt? Does it can work normal by customer specification? Thank you.

Hello
Attached is customer FW code. But they find While AC power on Monitor and type C cable connect NB, Monitor has display and can charge to NB.
But While AC power on -> AC power off -> AC power on Monitor, there is no display and do not charge to NB. Could you help what is the issue root case and which setting we need to modify on TPS65987D? Thank you.

Hi Patrick,
Do you have PD logs of the failing case? It would help to get the PD logs so we can see what is happening during the connection.
Thanks,
Eric
Dear Eric
Thanks. We will send to you while get PD log.
Another question, we find out still type c cable connect to NB and Monitor, while AC power on -> AC power off -> AC power on Monitor, the monitor is display but not charge NB. But if we re-plug USB type C cable, the charging NB is resume.
While at any test method, If we re-plug USB type C cable, then Monitor will resume to charge NB. Only on this condition, type c cable is already connect to NB and monitor, if AC power off monitor-> AC power on Monitor, display normal but can not charging NB.
Could we know have any possible reason to cause this phenomenon? Thank you.

Hi Patrick,
Do you have the "Initiate swap to source" bit in the Port Control register enabled on the monitor? Typically, the monitor should send a power role swap to source once the AC power has been reconnected and the monitor is able to source power again. It seems that this is not happening. Is there an EC in the monitor? Or is there any indication going to the PD controller in the monitor that the AC power has been enabled again? The PD controller would need some indicator that power is available in the monitor and that it needs to swap to a source. You can also use the 4CC command SWSr to swap to a source.
Thank you,
Eric
Dear Eric
Thank you. How to enable bit 7 initial swap to source on port control register on below GUI? The monitor has no indication to PD controller from scaler. How to send 4CC command SWSr to TPS65987D to swap to a source? It looks PD will re power on then load Flash FW while AC power on monitor. Thank you.
Hi Patrick,
It looks like you have started with a Basic template in the GUI tool. I would suggest using an advanced template, then the Swap To Source bit will be exposed.
Thank you,
Eric
Hello Eric
Attached is log. It looks AC power off then AC power on monitor while type c cable connected to NB and monitor, NB will become host then output 5V to monitor. There is no any indicator and connection between 65987D and scaler. Ant initial swap to source already check on OTS820 pjt.
How to setting to let monitor get Host position then output 20V to NB for charging while AC power off then power on? Thank you.
PD log file is on attached.

Hi Patrick,
I would suggest using the scalar in the monitor to send the SWSr command to the TPS65987D so that the monitor will initiate the power role swap to Source. There is no way for the TPS65987D to automatically know when to send the power role swap in this case since it does not know when the AC power is reconnected.
Thank you,
Eric
