TUSB8020B-Q1: How to deal with the unused pins?

Part Number: TUSB8020B-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TUSB8020B

Dear team,

1. USB 2.0 is not used, how should I deal with the unused pin? Pull up, pull down, or floating?

2. The I2C interface can be connected to the SOC/MCU directly, instead of I2C connecting to the EEPROM, right?

Thanks & Best Regards,

Sherry

  • Hi Sherry,

    1. Unused pins should be left unconnected, however USB 3.0 specification requires any USB 3.0 device to be connected over both SS and USB 2.0 lines to support backward compatibility.

    2. In I2C mode, the hub acts as a I2C master only.  In SMBUS mode, a SMBUS host can access the registers of TUSB8020B.

    Regards,
