Hi,

What could possibly happen if 20V is supplied to PP_HV pins when the sink firmware is previously programmed?

That was what I did accidentally to Sink EVM and it is not working anymore.

Understand from the datasheet that there is Ideal Diode Reverse Current Protection if sink mode is configured.

Is the chip damaged or is there a way to recover from this?

Hi Hein,

The Reverse current protection of the TPS65987D would protect it from this behavior. I would suggest trying to reflash the base firmware using the latest version of the TPS6598x application customization tool. There is a step-by-step guide for programming the EVM in the EVM User's guide.

Hi Eric,

Reflashing fails with "SPI Flash to Device failed verification" error. Is there any other way to reflash the entire SPI flash?

Hi Hein,

It seems that maybe the FTDI Chip or the SPI Flash on the Sink board was damaged. The sink board does expose the SPI Lines on J203. You could use those pins to try and program the SPI Flash using another programmer.

Hi Eric,

I can program the source board using the FTDI chip on the sink board. I have also swapped the SPI Flash chip with the one on source board. Sink board flash chip is ok on source board.

I guess the TPS65987 was damaged although the reverse current protection was supposed to protect it.
