Hi team,

We want to run ALP by connecting the 954 on the board we created, not the EVM, with the PC.

We tried it but it doesn't work.

UNKNOWN FPD-LINK3 is displayed on the information tab of ALP.

The I2C address is displayed as configured, but Refclk Freq remains No.

Under what conditions is UNKNOWN FPD-LINK3 Deserializer displayed?

Revision is displayed as 1, but in the current data sheet, the revision looks like 2.

Is this the cause of the problem?

Hi Yoshida,

to link the ub954 in your customer boar with ALP tool, you need:

1. prepare one USB to I2C board with TI's MSP5529 inside and the its USB2any firmware. you can use our EVM board which has USB2I2C module circuit.

2. please make sure the I2C voltage is compatible between EVM board's I2C bus and the UB954's I2C bus in your customer board, SCL, SDA and GND are connected respectively

3. Pls power down the EVM board's FPD-Link device ( you can use any FPD-Link device)

4. run the ALP tool, and select the UB954 device.

pls check it based on above in your customer system.

I'll try to check that way too.

We use Aadvark for USBtoI2C conversion.

If I use this, do I need to set it in ALP?

We would like to be able to use the USBtoI2C conversion tool rather than bridging with EVM.

Yoshida,

For any USB2IC bridge, please check the UB954's I2C addr. correctly (can be 7bits or 8bits). Then you can visit the UB954's reg. addr. for reading and writing. For non-MCP5529's USB2I2C conversion, the ALP can't work.

sorry, the part number is: MSP430F5529.

in TI's USB2any, the internal MCU is MSP430F5529, which has firmware known by our FPD-Link's ALP tool.
