TUSB320: Alternate Mode Configuration

Hello,

I am working on an upstream facing port that will sink 5V @ 3A, USB 2.0, and DisplayPort via alt mode.

Can the TUSB320 do the proper alt mode negotiations for this? Or do I need a TUSB422?

Is there any other device I should consider for this?

Hi,

When implementing a USB-C alt mode a PD controller must always be used. You do need TUSB422 however this device requires an external MCU. You can consider TPS65987D for you application as well. TUSB320 does not support USB-C Alt modes.

Hi Malik,

Thank you for confirming. I did consider some of our more integrated PD controllers like the TPS65987D, but small size is critical for this project.
