SN65DP159: SMARC module and DDC signals

Part Number: SN65DP159

Hello team,

my customer wants to use the SN65DP159RS in a SMARC module, since the SMARC standard states that the DDC signals are 1.8Vdc and that the translation from 1.8Vdc to 5 Vdc must be made on the carreir (not on the SMARC module), I wanted to ask you if it is possible NOT to connect the DDC lines or if it is possible to connect them to a 1.8V level or if there is a further solution.

Thank you in advance for the support.

Best regards,

Adrian

The SNx5DP159 needs its SDA_SNK and SCL_SNK pins connected to the link, where the SDA/SCL from the source is connected directly to the SDA/SCL sink, in order for the SNx5DP159 to configure the TMDS_CLOCK_RATIO_STATUS bit.

But SDA_SNK and SCL_SNK VIH and VIL level do not support 1.8V, so you need a level shifter in order for the SDA_SNK and SCL_SNK to work properly.

    Thanks

  • thanks for the answer.

I would have a confirmation about SCL_SRC and SDA_SRC pins when the SDA/SCL from the source is connected directly to the
SDA/SCL sink. Data sheet states they should be pulled to GND. is it true or they should be pulled to VCC (3.3Vdc)

In addition i would like to ask if SDA_SNK and SCL_SNK can work properly at 3.3V (level shift with pulled up to 3.3V insted of 5V).

    thanks

  • Hello,

Could you confirm if when SDA/SCL from the source is connected directly to the SDA/SCL sink then SCL_SRC and SDA_SRC pins must be pulled to ground or to VCC?

In addition I would ask if SDA_SNK and SCL_SNK can work properly at 3.3Vdc (level shifter with pull up to 3.3Vdc instead of 5V)

    Thanks
