Hi,

I am designing a USB PD 3.0 power source board (Just source using internal FET and No sink), in this case what must be the device configuration (voltage on ADCIN1 and state of SPI_MISO) ? The confusion is related to dead battery mode. Since our board is a source i am not sure what must be the dead battery configuration.

Hi Shyam,

I would suggest following the USB-C-PD-DUO-EVM Source Board. For a PD3.0 source device. The EVM has all of the necessary connections for a PD3.0 source that you can follow.

Hi Eric,

I have referred to the EVM schematics it is shown that there is a pull-up and also shorted to ground on SPI_MISO line. Not sure if one of this resistor (R43 and R40) is not populated on the PCB.

If SPI_MISO is grounded then according to schematics it is loading configuration 5 which states that source capability is 5V at 3A with External switch. But i want to use the Internal switch with 5V, 9V and 15V USB PD3.0 voltages.

Hi Shyam,

The resistor going to GND is not populated. An SPI Flash is required for this application. You can refer to TIDA-050012 http://www.ti.com/tool/TIDA-050012 for more information on the Source portion of the design. The internal power path is used on this design.

Eric, many thanks for the clarification, it was really helpful.

Not populating R43 makes more sense. Where can i find the information related to non populated components on the PCB?
