DS280MB810: Switching time difference of Pin control crosspoint mode with different Reg_0x07[5] configuration

Part Number: DS280MB810

Hi,

With Mode 1 (Ch A and B Reg_0x07[5]=0), my customer found some bit errors after acting switching operation with MUXSEL. However, with Mode 2 (Ch A Reg_0x07[5]=0, Ch B Reg_0x07[5]=1), there was no bit error. For cross-point operation, there should be channel interruption. I think the interruption time of Mode 2 might be shorter than Mode 1, so no bit error happened. Could you pls take a look at this? There is no switching time data in datasheet.

Thanks.

  • Hi Jerry,

The total switch time is just over 1uS (measured at 1.36uS) with the pin control.

I have attached a graphic which shows the change in signal at a high level.  There is a period of time when no signal is present at the output.

    Regards,

    Lee

  • Thanks.

Do we have the crosstalk data of the two modes? I would like to compare the difference of crosstalk performance.

  • Hi Jerry,

I do not see any difference in channel performance in crosspoint vs. straight through modes.  I have attached some jitter data from the MB810.

We have also completed BERT testing at 25+ Gbps with all channels running PRBS31.  All four mux configurations were tested across voltage and temperature.  No eye diagram or jitter changes were opbserved for any of the mux configurations with all 8 channels in operation.

    Regards,

    Lee
