Two input lanes use different cable, is it ok?

Part Number: DS90UB940-Q1

Dear team,

Our 940 has two lane inputs as below. One lane uses STP, and the other lane uses coax cable, is this ok?

Thanks & Best Regards,

Sherry

  • Hello Sherry,

This is not recommended since the two lanes need to have minimal skew. Why is this desired anyways?

    Best Regards,
    Casey

  • Hi Casey,

    Thanks for your reply!

Could you please explain more about the skew?

It is a request from the end customer. I will check the detailed reason and get back to you!

    Thanks & Best Regards,

    Sherry

  • Hello Sherry,

Since the pixels are split even and odd over the two lanes in dual FPD Link mode, it is required that the two pairs have low pair to pair skew to avoid synchronization issues. I would not recommend using two different cable types. However if the customer is interested in using only one port or the other at a time (two independent video sources which are single FPD Link and only one is active at a time), then this would be acceptable.

    Best Regards,

    Casey
