TPS65987D: Sink current

Part Number: TPS65987D

Hi team,

I got some question about TPS65987D from the customer.

1. Should the customer use external flash memory? In my understanding, when the customer only control by I2C, it is not must to use.

2. Is it possible to change the sink voltage and sink current? Sink voltage can be change 5V, 9V, 12V, 20V?

Regards,

Yoshi

  • Hi Takahashi-san,

    1. You can choose to use either an external SPI Flash or an EC. If you choose to use an EC, you can push the patch and configuration onto the TPS65987D over I2C. The following app note explains that behavior and provides some example code: http://www.ti.com/lit/an/slva972a/slva972a.pdf

However, if using an SPI Flash, you can just simply connect the SPI lines and the TPS65987D will automatically boot from the SPI Flash.

    2. Yes, the Sink voltage and current are configurable. You can use the TPS6598x Application Customization Tool to create your custom configuration file to fit your application.

    Thank you,
    Eric
