PCI2050B: PCI2050 vs PCI2060

Part Number: PCI2050B

Can the PCI2050B be dropped-in for a replacement for the PCI2060 (257 pin package)? What features are different between the two parts?

Here are the pin differences I see:

C1 (SEC_ASYNC_CLK)

C4 (SEC_ASYNC_SEL)

D18 (SEC_ASYNC_RATE)

J17 (S_VIO)

L19 (P_VIO)

W18 (GND)

  • Hello-

The primary difference is that the PCI2060 offers more secondary clock options that utilize SEC_ASYNC_CLK, SEC_ASYNC_SEL, SEC_ASYNC_RATE, and MASK_IN inputs.    If a system is using these PCI2060 pins, then you cannot drop in a PCI2050B.

The PCI2050B also has a specific power sequence requirements for P_VCCP and S_VCCP pins that an existing PCI2060 system may not meet, making PCI2050B not a direct drop-in replacement.
