Hello,

I have few questions regarding the ds90UB926 deserializer.
We have previously worked with DS90UB947->DS90UB948 ser-deser using 2-lane STP.

We now have rgb888 parallel 24-bit display, which we would like to interface with DS90UB926 deser.

Can we use ds90ub947 deser on the ICU side, to interface it with ds90ub926 over single-lane FPD-link?
1. If yes, what needs to be configured to do so?
Can ds90ub926 support serial RGB888? (I am providing pictures to further clarify difference between serial and parallel RGB888).

Hi Bart,

Yes, UB926 can be linked with UB947 automatically with pin strap setting (mode_sel).

1. Pls check ub947 d/s, the backward compatibility limitation is UB926 only can support up to 85MHz PCLK, pls make UB947 compatible with it.

7.3.12 Backward Compatibility
This FPD-Link III serializer is backward compatible to the DS90UB926Q-Q1 and DS90UB928Q-Q1 for OpenLDI
clock frequencies ranging from 25 MHz to 85 MHz. Backward compatibility does not need to be enabled. When
paired with a backward compatible device, the serializer will auto-detect to 1-lane FPD-Link III on the primary
channel (DOUT0±).

2. NO, UB926 can't support the serial RGB888 mode.

also, for the serial RGB888, the PCLK would become x3, it is too high for the parallel I/f and would introduce the EMI/EMC issue. so generally we don't see the serial RGB888. But we have OpenLDI video I/f solution, you can refer to ds90UB924.

Hi Steven,

Currently our small circular display accepts RGB888 serial directly from processor.
Is there any other solution except deser? Maybe some bridge?

I shared with you the specs of the display offline.

sorry we don't see this device with serial RGB888 output. maybe you can use the CPLD/PFGA as I/f bridge.
