Hi,

I have a customer using the MAP tool with UB953/954. They would like to know what kind of data is sent along the link during the MAP tool's evaluation. In the app note "Margin Analysis Program (MAP) and strobe positions for DS90UB954-Q1 and DS90UB960-Q1" the method of sampling the data with modified strobe positions and EQ settings is explained, but I could not find specifics on the data itself being evaluated.

Hello Emma,

MAP utilizes our BIST functionality (Built in Self Test) which can be found in the datasheet. When enabled, the SER will send a PRBS pattern to the DES for which the DES knows every bit and can check the received pattern.

Emma,

We do not typically disclose the details of the PRBS pattern - this is internal to our device. Is there a specific reason this is needed?
