DP83869HM: Can DP83869HM in Media converter mode be daisy-chained in stand alone mode?

This may be a moronic question, however I have need for a 1000 Base-T "repeater" to extend the range of cables.

Could this be designed by taking one side 1000 Base-T to DP83869HM in Media converter mode and connecting the fibre interface to another DP83869HM on the fibre interface and then have a second 1000 Base-T connector?

Simply connect between the cable from the Switch and the second (long) cable to a remote device?

Can it be that easy?

Thank you for the question.

This method is supported by the DP83869HM.

1000BASE-T <-> DP83869HM <-> 1000BASE-FX <-> DP83869HM <-> 1000BASE-T

If the repeater boards need to be remotely powered, you can also implement PoE so that the power is provided over the copper cable.

One thing not quite clear to me - do I need to add in glass fibre transceivers and a bit of fibre between the two DP83869HM or can I directly connect the relevant pins between the two IC's?
