TUSB8041A: Basic specifications and connection method

Part Number: TUSB8041A

HI, staff

Basic specifications and connection method

We are considering using TUSB8041A.
I have two questions.

1. If USB2.0 and USB3.0 devices are mixed as shown in page1 of the data sheet,
will the USB2.0 and USB3.0 transfer speeds be maintained, respectively?

2. If there is a device IC on the same board, is an AC coupling capacitor required?
   The host side is HD3SS3220RNHT
Connect CYPRESS CX3 on the device side.

best regards

  • Hello Cafain,

    1. Both USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 operate on separate USB signals.  The upstream port of the hub connects to the host at both speeds and there is no translation between the two buses.

    2. If a USB 3.0 device is on the same PCB as the hub, both sides of the connection will need AC caps on their respective TX pair.  Please note that various USB 3.0 muxes and switches will have differing AC cap placement requirements that will be called out in their various datasheets.

    Regards,
