SD387EVK: No Support for Windows 10

Hi,

I've reviewed every post on this EVK and there is no true solution to get this board working for Windows 10. Can you please provide a solution for installing drivers on a Windows 10 machine?

Note: One of the proposed solution is for a Cypress driver but this is an Atmel chip.

    Hi Ari,

    This is one of the older products and there is support for win7 only.

    You can consider using LMH0397. This device has the same functionality as LMH0387 and its GUI runs on win10.

    Hi,

    I actually followed your modified instructions (per the Help in the software) for Windows 7 (using the cypress drivers) and the application crashed as well. ALM (with those drivers) is NOT compatible with Windows 7 nor Windows 10.

    The eval kit costs almost $400 but is only compatible with Windows XP and Vista. Have you guys considered updating the firmware or discontinuing this product?

    Also, the SD387EVK is the eval board for the LMH0387. The LMH0387 is just a chip. Can you please be more specific?

    Hi Ari,

    There is no plan to update the firmware to support SD387EVK or discontinue this product. LMH0397 has onboard SDI retimer and is also pin compatible for 12G SDI device as well(LMH1297). Therefor it has much more functionality This is why I recommended this part.

    I'm confused. If the board is not compatible with Windows 7/10 and you have no plans to upgrade the firmware to support those operating systems why is this product still being sold? It looks like a lot of people cannot even get this working on Windows 7. Are you able to address that issue at least?

    Hi Ari,

    The LMH0387 is a popular product and there is no plan to discontinue this part at this time. There are customers in production at the moment and continue to use this part, There are three options for using LMH0387EVM:

    1). Use win xp: When LMH0387 was introduced seven years ago, this was the predominant window OS. Therefor GUI and evaluation board was developed in this environment.

    2). Win7 recommendation worked in our lab and customers as well. However, I cannot explain as to why this is not working in your win7 environment.

    3). You can also use a SPI controller such as Aardvark SPI controller from TotalPhase to access LMH0387 registers as well. Using this controller, you can setup LMH0387 register as noted in the data sheet.
