SN65DSI86: REFCLK input and adjustable DSI clock frequency

Part Number: SN65DSI86

Hi Team,

We want to adjust our DSI clock frequency to 223MHz.

Based on SN65DSI86 Programming Guide section3.4 as below.

If we don't input clock on REFCLK, we can only choose these five DSI frequency(384 MHz, 416 MHz, 460.8 MHz, 468 MHz, or 486 MHz), right?

If want to adjust our DSI clock frequency to 223MHz, we need to input a clock on REFCLK, right?

Thanks

SN65DSI86 Programming Guide section3.4:

When using the REFCLK as the clock source, any DSI Clock frequency is supported, but if the clock

source was instead the DSI A clock, then the required DSI Clock frequency would need to change to a

frequency supported by the DSI86. When operating in this mode, any one of the following DSI A clock

frequencies can be used: 384 MHz, 416 MHz, 460.8 MHz, 468 MHz, or 486 MHz. In most cases, a eDP

panel would support some variation from the ideal pixel clock frequency.

Your understanding is correct on both questions. If you take a look at the block diagram at section 8.2, you can see there is a clock circuits that can be fed either through the reference clock or the DSI clock. The requirement in the programming guide is for this clock circuit.

    Thanks
