Hello Eric,

For our application, we have requirement of adding 2K ohm series resistance on CC1, CC2 lines of Type C connector. Attached is diagram.

We are going to use USB PD protocol with series resistor as shown in figure. I checked levels in table 6.8 of datasheet. The voltage levels are meeting criteria. Do you see any risk in this implementation

Hi Guruprasad,

Adding a series resistance to the CC line can cause issues with CC negotiation during PD messaging. It is not recommended to add series resistance to the CC line. If protection is needed on the CC line, I would suggest using the TPD6S300A device.

Additionally, the CC line can be used to provide VCONN, where up to 600mA of current will flow through the CC line. Adding a 2K series resistance will reduce the VCONN voltage too much and violate the Type-C/PD specifications.
