I received the following request from a customer. Could you assist?

Are the mac addresses that you enter in these devices in the factory unique?

I would like to be sure that once outside, there are no collisions with other Texas devices

MAC addressed are not something we have control over and are outside of the scope of this forum. Please contact your vendor if you have additional questions.

Hi Nikhil,

I want to check if the statement below is correct also for DP83822H:

mac addresses are 6B long, the first most significant 3 bytes is the OUI field, which is registered to a given company. Texas Instruments has many OUI values as can be looked up here:

https://www.whatsmyip.org/mac-address-lookup/

So the OUI value will be reused by many TI devices. The remaining 3B are randomly generated for uniqueness. You are able to overwrite the whole mac address in SW as well.

Hi Fabio,

Overwriting a MAC address is outside the scope of this forum because this is separate from the PHY. If you are using a TI processor or MAC, there will be a separate team you can contact. If you are using another vendor's MAC, please contact this vendor if you have further questions.
