Hi.
I am designing a UFP only device using TPS65987D.
VIN_3V3 is supplied by a power source (not using VBUS)
Power switches are not used, both of them are connected to GND.
I used TPS65981 Application Customization Tool to make configuration file following below steps:
New Project > TPS65987DDH > Standard > UFP only > NONE
without changing anything else.
However, after powering up the device, I found both CC lines kept alternating between High and Low which means the device is running in DRP mode.
Is there any mistakes I may made?
Or could you provide me a well-checked UFP only configuration please?
Thanks.
Hello,
The project you described is still expected to toggle the CC lines. The project has both Debug Accessory and Audio Accessory support enabled. To be able to detect a Debug Accessory or Audio Accessory, the CC lines must be toggling. If you disable the accessory support in the Port Configuration register (0x28), the CC lines should not toggle.
Thank you,
Eric
Hi Eric,
Thank you! It worked!
I was planning to make a DTS(sink), so I was worrying about whether it would work well without Debug Accessory Support checked.
But I fount it still works well, the TS could detect it as a DTS.
Is the "Debug Accessory Support " in Port Configuration register only for TS?
Is there any potential problem using this as a DTS without Debug Accessory Support option checked?
Could I make the device running in this UFP only mode by pin-strapping(ADCIN1 and SPI-MISO)?
Hello,
I'm not sure what you meant with DTS and TS. Can you please explain?
It is not recommended to use the pin strapping configurations as there would be no patch loaded onto the device.
Thank you,
Eric
Hi Eric
I'm sorry.
The words DTS and TS are used in USB Type-C Specification 1.3 Debug Accessory Mode section
where DTS = Debug and Test System and TS = Target System.
DTS I wrote above meant a sink device working in Debug Accessory Mode and TS was the source side device.

I understand. Thank you.
