Is there is a requirement that the differential pairs be balanced (length matched) to other differential pairs in terms of layout?
I understand that the + lane and the – lane of a differential pair need to be balanced (length matched).

Hi Gregory,
There is a requirement from Intel which requires adjacent pairs or bundles to be matched. I would recommend to keep them matched within ~ 100mils if possible, since other PCB assemblies in the link might have length differences which are not as easy to compensate.
When I refer to adjacent pairs:
Lane 0 - Lane 1
Lane 2 - Lane 3
etc.

Lee
