DS160PR410: EN_SMB resister setting and RXDET default setting

Part Number: DS160PR410

Hi team,

We have 3 questions in below and need your help!

1. For the SN_SMB pin, there are 4-level inputs pins as the datasheet mentioned in below link page 12, table 3 and that says the resistor must less than 10% tolerance.

But we see the EVM board schematic for ENSMB with different design resistor value as below link page 17, R6/R7/R8. Why the design is not as the datasheet mentioned?

2. For RXDET setting, what is the recommend default setting?

3. What are the difference for VOD and GAIN setting? Could you help explain more detail to us?

Thank you very much!

  • Hi,

    1. When more than one 4 level input is tied together the resistor value must accomodate the additional loading. For example, if two devices ENSMB pins are tied together the 1K / 13K / 59K resistor values would be /2 or 500, 6.5K, and 29.5K.  If four device inputs are tied together the resistor values would be /4 or 250, 3250, and 14.75K.

    2. For RXDET in PCIe applications the recommended setting is Float

    3. They are similar.  VOD is an output adjustment while GAIN is an Rx EQ adjustment.  Setting both to 0dB is recommended.

    Regards,

    Lee
