what's the best, when only one channel of TRS3232 is used, connect the second channel inputs to ground or just leave them floating?

Hanno,

The input and output of unused channel can be left open. RIN pins have integrated 5kOhm resistors to ground per RS-232 standard. DIN have internal pull down as well.
