1). Please refer to the data sheet for register settings for different modes of operation.

2). Also, there is GUI or a software that you can use to setup the device for different modes. For this to work, you need to have access to the SMBus interface. Here is a link to this GUI:

Please note, aside from SigconArchitect GUI, you also need to install SigconArchitect Retimer Profiles as well.
