TUSB1044: Support CM to CM Gen1 3 meters and 5 amper current cable

Part Number: TUSB1044
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TUSB211

Hi TI experts,
Would you help me to check schematic? The project need support CM to CM Gen1  3 meters and 5 amper current cable. Is PD controller necessary for TUSB1044? Can AUXP/AUXN direct to A8/B8 ?SCHEMATIC1 PAGE1.pdf

  • Hi,

If you are implementing DP alternate mode on this application then yes but a PD controller is not always required for Type-C applications. In your schematic is seems tha you have shorted the Type-C connector side of TUSB1046A and DP side of TUSB1046A. TX1p/n, TX2p/n, RX1p/n, RX2p/n should be connected to the Type-C connector. RX1p/n, RX2p/n should be AC coupled with 330 nF. DPxp/n should be connected to the DP video source.

  • Hi,TI experts,

Thank you for your last reply, there are some questions to help answer.

    7701.design1.pdf

    1.Schematic design of reference accessories.

The (4, 5, 7, 8, 11) PIN of the TUSB1044 IC has 2 components, respectively, whether to help confirm the final choice. Secondly, is it necessary to separate the pull-up or replace the resistor? If you need to keep it, then it will end up on SMT. Including IC other (2, 3, 14, 17, 21, 22, 23, 29, 32, 35, 38) PIN how to achieve CM to CM 3m / Gen1 (for data transmission and DP signal transmission) test passed. One is (24, 25) PIN and (26, 27) PIN whether you need to connect directly or maintain the current connection.

    Thank you!

  • Hi,

Before I give more comments , can you describe the desired application? Is this meant to be used in a cable? Are there two Type-C connectors on either side of TUSB1044?

  • Hi,TI experts,

Our company uses on the cable, made Type CM to Type CM 3m/5A/Gen1 standard, use your company's signal compensation chip, help to confirm how the configuration on the schematic will be designed, can help identify in pdf. Thank you!7266.design.pdf

  • Hi,

TUSB1044 4 level input pins (2,3,4,14,17,29,32,35,38) should follow table 1 in the datasheet to achieve the correct levels for the different EQ settings. Also USB 2 redriver should have DP/M1 and DP/M2 shorted , please see layout section of TUSB211 datasheet for reference.
