DP83867IR: DP83867IRPAPR, The Ethernet Transcevier is not working at 1000 Mbps

Part Number: DP83867IR

Hi,

We are using the DP83867IRPAPR 10/100/1000 Ethernet physical layer transceiver. We cannot able to operate on full-speed of about 1000Mbps, But it's working on 10Mbps Speed.

We got doubt on Length match in PCB Design, we length matched the Transmitting and Receiving pins accordingly  ( TD_P_A, TD_M_A) , ( TD_P_B, TD_M_B) , ( TD_P_C, TD_M_C) , ( TD_P_D, TD_M_D). The length match of every differential pair line is perfect.

But we did not match the group length. When we testing in xsignal Length in altium we found this issue. It is necessary to Group Match? Or there is any other problem? And also we used the ESD, but it is not through routing ESD.

Group length match is important or anything else is there?

  • Hi Praveen,

Can you clarify what is meant by you are not able to operate? For example, you're not able to establish a link, or you can establish the link but cannot send packets.

Group length matching is important if there is too large of a large delta between the trace lengths of your shortest and longest group.

    Thank you,

    Nikhil

  • Hi Nikhil,

We can able to operate 10Mbps but, We cannot able to achieve the full speed operation of about 10Mbps, In group length match, The maximum Delta between the trace is about 80mils. I have attached the Trace length of Ethernet pair.

    Thanks

    Praveen

  • Hi Nikhil,

    Any Update on my queries.

Will you any other possible way to achieve full speed?

    Thanks

    Praveen

  • Hi Praveen,

The trace lengths should be fine. Can you be more descriptive about not being able to achieve full speed, i.e. is the link not able to establish or is the link established (LED on) and no packets are sending? Link and packet errors are usually effected by the clock and line driver. Please refer to the applications section of this datasheet for the proper schematic setup.

    Thank you,

    Nikhil
