TCAN1043G-Q1: TCAN1043GDRQ1

Part Number: TCAN1043G-Q1

Hello,

my customer would like to know following information regarding the TI CAN Transceiver TCAN1043GDRQ1:

  1. What is the maximum GND offset between two CAN transceivers without affecting the function of the device ?

  2. How and where can I exactly determine this value from the data sheet ?

  3. How and where is this being tested? (Standards, AECQ etc...)

Thank you for your support,

Derya

  • Hi Derya,

    1. The receiver common mode input voltage range is the specification I believe you're looking for. The device is designed with this large common mode range in order to accommodate for long distances between CAN nodes. As long as the common mode voltage remains within this range, and the differential is maintained, communication without issue.

    2. This information can be found in the Receiver Electrical Characteristics section of Specifications on the datasheet (Vcm).

    3. ISO11898 specifies the recessive common mode voltage range of +-12v. TCAN1043xx offers a operation range wider than this on its receiver in its normal and silent modes.

Let me know if you have any more questions.

    Regards,
    Eric
