DS90UB954-Q1: Interface with FPD LINK III

Part Number: DS90UB954-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DS90UB913A-CXEVM, ALP, DS90UB953-Q1

Is this SerDes chipset pair offered in another TI product that will allow for interfacing FPD Link III directly with a computer via USB/Thunderbolt 3/other while also providing PoC?

  • To expand on this - my goal is to display a live (or slightly delayed) video image from a digital camera that uses FPD Link III on a flat panel. The camera needs to be initialized through I2C and receives power over coax.  I have camera initialization stings / sequence but am not sure how to connect a deserializer to a display.  If there was a solution which offered an HDMI or other display output from a deserializer, that would be perfect.

If not, am I able to simply connect a flat panel display directly to the deserializer chip or does something else need to be connected in the circuit as well?

  • Hello,

If there's a specific output interface you are looking for, you can filter the output compatibility on our website. The available outputs are LVCMOS/ MIPI CSI-2/ LVDS. In the typical applications diagram, you will see that the output is connected to a processor. You will need to find a processor that will convert the DES output, and convert it to an HDMI/other output and that can connect to a display.

  • Thank you Sally.  I see that the deserializer DS950UB954 is available with -Q1EVM option as an evaluation module.  Is something similar available for DS90UB935 serializer?

I found DS90UB913A-CXEVM but this uses LVCMOS as an input instead of MIPI CSI-2.  The "ALP software" link under "Design kits & evaluation modules" does not seem to include serializers.

  • Hello,

You may purchase a DS90UB953-Q1 EVM and populate with a DS90UB035-Q1 chip, or you may use the DS90UB953-Q1 EVM  as is. They are similar parts. The ALP profiles should include Serializers as well. Find you file folder path to the Analog LaunchPAD v1.57.0010 folder (C:\Program Files (x86).....) and you can click on "Profiles" and verify that they are included.

    Thanks,

    Sally
