Faultproof chained Ethernet interface

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DP83822I, DP83867IR

Hello,

I have a multichannel modbus I/O card and it should be updated to include a dual port modbus TCP/IP interface. Additionally if there is another ethernet device connected to the dual port it should be operating even if this I/O card is not powered up. Is that possible to do and what kind of circuits/IC's are available/needed for this kind of interface?

  • Hi T-P,

TCP/IP is a higher layer protocal, this forum focuses on Ethernet physical layer devices. We do have devices for 10/100/1000 Mbps, based on your system requirements you can create an Ethernet subsystem on your IO card. Please review the following datasheets to see if they meet your needs: DP83867IR and DP83822I. You will need an Ethernet MAC to interface with Ethernet PHY.
