TPS65987D: Dynamically switch power for DP1.2 to DP1.3

Hello,

My customer is thinking about the need to dynamically switch from DP 1.2 to DP 1.3 in their system with TPS65987D. Is this possible? Is there any commands that need to come from their MCU to make this happen?

Hi Michael,

Yes this should be possible with their MCU. Assignment C is correct for using DP 1.3. The customer will also need to ensure that the DP v1.3 signalling bit is set and when it needs to switch from 1.2 to 1.3, the "Multi-function Preferred" bit should be set to 0 and a HRST command should be sent by the UFP_D for a hard reset to re-enter DP alternate mode into DP 1.3. This process is also described in detail in the DisplayPort Application Note, Section 5.2 here.
