I have just purchased the TPS65987EVM with FTDI chip and cannot get the unit to flash using the Application Customization Tool.

The error I keep receiving is:

Exception Encountered during SPI Flash to Device:No FTDI I2C channels (I2C_GetNumChannels) detected, exiting....

<type 'exceptions.Exception'>

In the Show Details I get:

Traceback (most recent call last):

File "dialogWindow.pyc", line 3393, in flash_device

File "hw_interface.pyc", line 187, in hw_open

Exception

Under the device manager I can see 4 USB Serial Com ports with no errors and the ports go away when I disconnect the usb cable so it appears the FTDI unit is connected.

I would appreciate any help I can get for this problem.

Hello Scott,

Can you confirm that the board has power from the barrel jack connector when you attempt to program it?

Also, can you try to to an I2C address sweep using the GUI tool? This is to understand if the board is responding. on the I2C lines.

I have power to the jack, and when I do a sweep, the program throws an exception. I have tried the EVM on a different computer and got the unit to operate. It must be somewhere in the FTDI drivers.

Hello Scott,

We have noticed the FTDI behavior to be sometimes erratic on Windows and seems to largely relate to the Windows environment itself. There's no current workaround for this issue unfortunately.

No, we currently do not have a Linux version for the GUI Software.
