TPS65987D: Using GPIOs to Detect DisplayPort

Hi Team,

My customer is trying to use GPIO 12 and 13 to detect the presence of a DP signal. Currently, one is mapped to "Port 0 DP Mode Select Event" and the other is mapped to "Port 0 DP or USB3 Event." The other settings are all default.

Their setup is currently passing DP through the EVM to a display, but when probing GPIO 12 and 13, they aren't seeing a high output. Do one of the other boxes need to be checked or another setting changed?

Hi Michael,

Are they measuring GPIO's 12 and 13 on the EVM during a DP event? If so, where on the EVM are they measuring these signals? Also, can you share their GUI project file that they are programming onto the EVM?

Hi Adam,

They're measuring GPIO 12 and 13 while DP data is being passed over USB C. Do they only go high for the initial connection and then go low again? Is there a way to make them stay high?

Measuring on the pads of R25 and R26.

Hi Michael,

I looked through your project file and believe it looked fine. However, I noticed that you were using an older version of our configuration tool. My first recommendation would be to download the latest version of our configuration tool which would also download our latest firmware base image. You can download the latest tool by following this link http://www.ti.com/tool/TPS6598X-CONFIG

Once you've downloaded and installed the tool, open a new project file. Once the new project is loaded, you'll then click project -> import settings from project, and load the project configuration that you shared with me. All of your settings should then transfer over.

If that still does not work, would you be able to take a scope capture measuring GPIO's 12 and 13, as well as the other GPIO's that have the same events programmed.
