TCAN4550: Windows IOT Driver Support

Part Number: TCAN4550

Dear Team,

My customer is surveying TCAN4550 and has some questions below.

1. The spec show the “controller supporting both classical CAN and CAN FD” in chapter 8.1.

Does classical CAN means “CAN 2.0B” spec?

2. Does the driver ready for WINDOWS IOT enterprise? If not, can TI support driver develop?

Thank you.

Jim

  • Jim,

    1. Yes, the TCAN4550-Q1 supports CAN 2.0b. CAN2.0b refers to the change to allow for 29-bit identifiers as well as 11-bit identifiers.
    2. We currently have starter code drivers available in the TCAN4550-Q1 product folder under the design and development tab. I don't believe these drivers are meant for Windows IOT enterprise, and we wouldn't support the development unless we saw a need from many customers. Check the product page and the starter code plus the software user's guide to see if this is something that you and/or the customer can use.

Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns.

    Regards,
