DS90UB954-Q1: DS90UB954 and DS90UB953 connect questions,FPD-LINKIII connection quality.

Part Number: DS90UB954-Q1

We use 954+953 to transmit video of OV10642,and design the circuit according to the manual recommendations;

We have do (Margin Analysis Program) MAP TEST ,the result is passed;

There are some problems in vibration test, Turn on the vibration video to stop transmission, turn off the vibration and restart the ECU, then the video will be transmitted normally ,we want to know that:

  1. Contact resistance requirements of the FPD-LINKIII signal for the connection
  2. Signal requirements for the connection instantaneous break time
  3. The connector parameters provided by the connector manufacturer are controlled at 1uS, 5 Ω under vibration environment, Whether it can meet the requirements of continuous signal transmission? We also communicate with connector manufacturers synchronously to solve this problem.
  4. If we want to test 954 received signal quality from CML port, what kind of equipment and environment are needed, Is this test necessary about this problem.

We need more information about 954 and FPD-linkIII, Hope to get a reply.

  • Hi,

    1. Contact resistance requirements of the FPD-LINKIII signal for the connection.
      1. We recommend maintaining 50Ohm impedance throughout the length of the trace and cable that has the FPD-LINK III signal.
    2. Signal requirements for the connection instantaneous break time
      1. Can you further explain what you mean by this?
    3. The connector parameters provided by the connector manufacturer are controlled at 1uS, 5 Ω under vibration environment, Whether it can meet the requirements of continuous signal transmission? We also communicate with connector manufacturers synchronously to solve this problem.
      1. I'm not sure if by 5Ohm you meant tolerance? If so, we use connectors that have 50Ohm impedance and allow a 5Ohm impedance tolerance.

    4. If we want to test 954 received signal quality from CML port, what kind of equipment and environment are needed, Is this test necessary about this problem
      1. The CML output can be used to view the eye-diagram of the FPD Link signal. This is useful as it would allow you to understand what is happening to the link or how much jitter is being added when you are doing your testing. You would need a high speed scope that has enough bandwidth to measure a 4Gbps signal. There's a special software called DPOJET that is available on some scopes which allows you to measure the jitter more precisely but this is only needed if you want to know very precisely what the jitter is. The eye diagram on a high speed scope will provide you with a general understanding, if that's all you need.
