TUSB320: TUSB320 apply question

Part Number: TUSB320

Hi:

We encountered some problems in the process of applying TUSB320 and need to ask.We don't have EC and battery, so the TUSB320's SMBUS doesn't have a host, we use GPIO mode, so how does the power adapter know how many volts to output in DFP mode?in GPIO mode, how to achieve the output of the power adapter 12V. In addition, does the VDD power supply of the IC in the schematic need to be an LDO alone?

  • Hi,

Could you help me understand the application, is this a Type-C 12V charger? Per USB spec Vbus (normally considered the charge out line) is 5V, this voltage can be raised but only through the use of a PD controller. Since a CC controller is used Vbus will always be 5V in DFP or DRP as host modes. TUSB320 has a I2C interface not SMBUS. TUSB320 can be powered from a LDO as long as the the LDO can accommodate the maximum current draw from TUSB320.

  • Thank you, we already know the design application error.
