Hi team,

In TCAN4550-Q1, if GPIO1 and GPO2 pins are not used, what is recommened for the pins? Floating is okay?

    Hi Sam,

    Generally speaking it is ok to leave unused output pins floating.  However, you do not want to leave input pins floating because of excessive current can flow when the pin is in an intermediate state between the high and low thresholds.

    The GPO2 is always an output pin.  The GPIO1 pin is configured as a GPO (General Purpose Output) by default.  If the GPIO1 pin is not configured as an input at any point, and remains at the default output mode, then it is ok to leave both of these pins floating.  If there is a chance the GPIO1 pin may be configured as an input as part of the configuration but still not used, then you may want to put a high value resistor such as a 10k or 100k pull up or pull down resistor on this pin as a precaution.  But ensuring this pin is always set to the default value in the configuration registers should be ok as well.
