DS90UB960-Q1EVM: REFCLK below the minimum value in the datasheet

Part Number: DS90UB960-Q1EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DS90UB935-Q1, DS90UB960-Q1
Hi,

I am having an unstable connection between a custom PCB with a DS90UB935-Q1 and a DS90UB960-Q1EVM board in synchronous mode.
I changed the REFCLK at the DES (DS90UB960-Q1) to 12.5 MHz to reduce the channel rates, which resolved the issue. Are there additional issues or problems we could face when changing the REFCLK to a value below 23 MHz (minimum value of the datasheet)?

Thanks in advance!
  • Donat,

yes, it is not recommended to use XO with less than 23MHz. If your need reduce the FC rate, you can check UB935's d/s table6 on the clocking mode setting, you can select the 11.5~13MHz ref. clock. but the external clock in UB960 should be kept at >=23MHz.

    best regards,

    Steven
