Is there a Windows 7 driver for this product for my Sony VGN-S3XP laptop please?

  • Hay un controlador de Windows 7para este producto para mi portatil Sony VGN-FS415S. Gracias.

  • John,

Sony should be able to provide you with this driver.

  • Dan,

You would think so, but the original drivers for my machine were for Windows XP and I have upgraded direct to Windows 7 (which Sony does not support for my model).  I believe that a Vista driver will do the job, but Sony do not appear to have this either. Any help will be appreciated.

    Kind regards.

    John

  • John,

Unfortunately we do not have any Win7 drivers that we can distribute.

  • Dan,

Do you have any Vista drivers please?

    Thanks.

    John

  • John,

Our agreement with the PC OEMs do not allow us to distribute drivers to end customers.  We are required to refer you to the OEM.

    Sorry!

  • Hi there,

I realise this is about 20 months too late but I was trying to find the same driver for a Sony Vaio VGN-A217M running Windows 7, without much luck.
I eventually found the driver at ftp://ftp.dell.com/chipset/R75853.EXE

It installed OK and seems to recognise the device.

Just a pity that TI couldn't point you in the right direction in the first place.

Incidentally, I found the driver through the site http://www.driveridentifier.com and although I was very suspicious of them to start with, they give the option to get a free 1 day trial when you sign up.  I wouldn't use their driver identier software, as I'm not convinced how secure it is, but if you can find the Device ID through Device Manager-> Preferences, it seems to take you straight to the link you need. In this case, it is on a Dell FTP server, so Driver Identifier aren't even hosting the software, so I have no qualms in taking advantage of the 1 day free (by saying I had no money during sign up!)

Anyway, hope this is of some help. I appreciate how annoying it can be going through forums where people either don't read what you are asking for, or just fob you off with an excuse.

  • Jack,

Thank you very much for this.  It worked perfectly.

  • Jack and John,

I wanted to thank you for utilizing the E2E to get this issue solved.  This is exactly how this forum is supposed to work and bring engineers together to solve problems.

I also wanted to assure you that we do everything that we can here at TI to ensure complete satisfaction for people using our devices.  Unfortunately sometimes we cannot provide all the information that we would like due to legal requirements that are beyond our control, this is especially true for third party drivers.

    Regards,

     Wes

  • Many thanks, worked perfectly on a Sony VGC-V2M All-in-One unit, upgraded to Win7 Pro 32bit.
