TPS65988DJ: ICSI: Get Connector Reset

Part Number: TPS65988DJ

Hi,

To implement "UCSI: Get Connector Reset" command manually through EC, should EC sent GAID or HRST or anything else?

Thanks!

Antony

  • Hi Antony,

If you are on a device that implements it, EC can call 4CC UCSI Connector Reset and that will satisfy the HLK test.

  • Hi Scott,

May I know what does "4cc command : UCSI-Connectror_reset" exactly do in the FW?  My customer's application is a host system (laptop), and it's an old prokect that they hadn't started to use UCSI 4cc command to accomplish UCSI tasks.

Currently they send GAID to achieve UCSI_Conector_Reset,  Do you think GAID is too much for them?  Do you think they can simply send HRST to achieve UCSI_Connector_Reset?

    Thanks!

  • Hi Antony,

There will be trade offs for each option. If the customer can tolerate the reboot process that will be triggered by GAID and it is already working then I think it is an okay solution.

HRST has the advantage of leaving the device up and should complete faster but will cause PD traffic that other options will not.
