TPD6S300A: TPD6S300A CC short to VBUS waveform questions

Part Number: TPD6S300A

Dear,

My customer using TPD6S300A in their notebook application and they test its CC short to VBUS protection, they captured the waveform of VBUS and CC1/2 on the connector side, it is hard to understand, could you please help check the waveform and give your ideas?

SideA_CC1 and SideA_CC2 are the waveform when insert the type C in one direction and then short CC1 to VBUS and CC2 to VBUS respectively, the behavior is different;

SideB_CC1 and SideB_CC2 are the waveform when insert the type C in another direction and then short CC1 to VBUS and CC2 to VBUS respectively, the behavior is different as well;

Thanks.

  • Hello,

    Your issue may be with the capacitance on the CC lines. The recommended capacitance on each CC lines should fall between 110 and 330 pF, as shown in the table below. Your current CC capacitance looks to be 550 pF. Please try taking one of the capacitors off.

    Also, NC1, NC2, D1, and D2 should be connected to ground if they are unused.

    Thanks,

    Emma
