DS160PR410: Pin function usage

Part Number: DS160PR410

Hi Team,

I have some question as below.

1. RX_det : What is this pin function purpose? Why it has 1, 2 and 3x valid detection, is this for noise filtering?

2. If we enable SMbus mode, but the Gain and VOD are configured on GPIO. Is that able to overwrite these two value?

3. Is there any default EQ value if the SMbus is malfunctioned?

  • sorry, response may slow due to Thanksgiving.

  • Hi Oliver,

I thought i had responded to your question earlier. Please below note some comments related to your questions:

1). RX_DET: Per PCIe specification, receiver should exhibit high impedance when there is no device or there is no termination at the output of the redriver. On the other hand, it could be desirable to have termination for SAS or diagnostic purpose. Given these requirements, there are different options for RX_DET pin.

2). Once we select SMBus option, different settings such as VOD are controlled by SMBus register default settings. Please refer to the DS160PR410 programming guide for these default settings.

3). If SMBus option is enabled then EQ default settings of 0 is selected. Please refer to the DS160PR410 programming guide for details.

    Regards,, Nasser
